Christmas has come early! We have a letters special!

Before I start, I know the Mail is against this ban, so could someone tell me why they are objecting to the 'Nanny state' restricting people's ability to smoke whilst also objecting to 'nanny state' restrictions on drinking being lifted? Is it because they're hypocritical nazis?

Now, some highlights from today:

Mary Daville and the traditional Daily Mail "Tax? I couldn't possibly pay it..I'm rich" moaning:

what doesn't seem to have occurred to people is that the tax on cigarettes used to be the greatest money-raiser the Government could use.
Now with so few people smoking this has caused all the tax increases...and as usual we're the mugs who have to pay for their lifestyle.

Yeah, but think of all the money we've saved on the NHS from not having to treat so many smoking-related illnesses.

J.W. Kay and his rather deadly way of proving his point:

Try sitting in a car and get someone to smoke 20 cigarettes.

OK, I will...
*cough*

You would come out distressed no doubt, but not dead. Now try it with a hosepipe attached to the exhaust pipe and in through the window. Switch the engine on and you'll find out which is the deadliest

OK, I will...
